020 [W7] LECTURE & TUT NOTES

Week 7 Lecture:
Sustainable Practice... with a twist

Design -- Fabricate -- Transport -- Assemble

Markets; Responsive and Ephemeral
    The markets live and work around the train line.. When a train is approaching the entire market stall packs up and moves to the sides whilst the train proceeds with its course.. If The train is destined to stop at the train stop then people can interact with market place giving opportunity to many experiences.

Street Restaurant; Dynamic and Ephemeral
    Street restaurants have the ability to be dynamic in form and character as the individual brings the Ephemeral experience to the location. There is not set form for one to follow in regards to restaurant layout.

Examples which are worth researching:

|| QuaDror || A structural support system
|| New Babylon ||
|| C2C || Containers to Clinics
|| Media-ICT ||
|| Quinta Monroy ||

On the one hand, there are bureaucracies, hierarchical strictures which conscious goals and overt control mechanisms. On the other, there are peasant and small-town markets, self-organised structures that arise spontaneously out of the activities of many individuals, whose interests only partially overlap.
                                                      Manuel De Landa, 1997

TUTORIAL ACTIVITY:

Today Jane approached each group individually.
Jane selected this approach as my group is beginning to advance their ideas in reference to the initial project.

We worked through a few sketch designs which were only just starting to scratch the surface of analysis.
Jane commented "i would like to see some perspective sketches for next week please"
